Description
This is a rare old porcelain blue and white bowl (KOIMARI YAKI) commemorating the Imperial Japanese Navy. On the inside is the official Japanese government paulownia seal flanked by the Japanese Navy and military flags. The kanji script is outdated but translates literally to “Banzai Emperor/Imperial empire” ( long live the Emperor/ or Empire ). The bowl has some wear but in good shape overall considering its age. It is very rare and we have never come across one in our three decades of antiquing ! Museum worthy piece. Very good condition for its age (see photos).
